JUNIOR THEATRE FESTIVAL 2021
The Junior Theater Festival (JTF) is the world’s biggest and best celebration of young people performing musical theater. JTF brings together student musical theater troupes from all over the world for a weekend of musical theater mayhem and madness. Each troupe performs fifteen minutes from a Broadway Junior show for adjudication by a panel of musical theater experts. The weekend also features professional development for teachers, workshops for students and parents, a New Works Showcase featuring new musical adaptations soon to be released and concludes with a grand finale concert headlined by Broadway’s best!
DATES OF FESTIVAL: May 7-9, 2021 in Sacramento, CA.

ACADEMY STUDENTS
$699 per student (includes adjudication performance)

There is a $30 late fee for any payments after the split payment due date.
INSURANCE: We highly recommend purchasing the insurance upon registration. THIS INSURANCE IS ONLY FOR PERSONAL ILLNESS, DEATH, ETC. If you add that option, you will be refunded the amount you paid upon registration. For example, if you paid $150 upon registration, the insurance coverage would reimburse you $150. Please read the conditions so that you are fully aware of coverage options.
COVID 19/EVENT CANCELATION: We do not anticipate the event being cancelled. If there are COVID 19 restrictions, the event most likely would be postponed until Fall 2021. THE JTF Fees would be refunded or credited by iTheatrics if a cancelation happens. The remainder of the fees paid would not be refunded except for food costs.
OPTIONAL HOTEL: Official festival hotels for JTF West are the Hyatt Regency Sacramento and Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel. Starbound Theatre will have a room available for parents and students to leave their belongings and where we will be hosting some meals. Pick up and Drop Off will take place at the Convention Center.
MANDATORY REHEARSALS: At this time, we have selected Frozen, Jr as the show we will be presenting our 15 minutes from. Rehearsals will be on select Saturdays as well as certain weekly Music and Improv rehearsals.
FUNDRAISING: We are offering an opportunity to fundraise the cost of the festival. We will be holding a Sees Candy Fundraiser in January/February and a possible fundraiser in March. All funds raised will go towards your student's costs.
FOOD: Included in the cost will be Saturday lunch and dinner. Sunday lunch is also included. Snacks and water for the weekend will also be provided.
CHAPERONES: If you would like to join us, you will be chaperoning 4 students at the festival. The cost would be $400 which would include meals (Sat lunch & dinner, Sun lunch) and Starbound Merchandise. Deposit of $150 due when registering, remaining balance due by October 2020.
PARENT TICKETS: Parents can choose to attend the events and NOT chaperone. Cost is $400 for parents. Deposit of $150 due when registering. Starbound Merchandise would be included. Meals can be added for an additional fee of $50.
JTF Key Events Include:
Adjudication
Student groups perform 15 minutes from MTI’s Broadway Junior Collection musical for adjudication by leading theater professionals. Groups are rated in the areas of music, acting, dance and overall performance. The adjudicators offer constructive criticism to each group to encourage further learning in key areas.
Workshops for Students and Teachers
Broadway professionals and master teachers from across the country offer interactive workshops! Workshops are for both teachers and students in all aspects of musical theater performance and technical theater.
JTF All-Stars
Selected student performers and student technicians are chosen as festival All-Stars. All-Stars participate in exclusive workshops and are given the opportunity to be a major part of the Freddie G Awards Ceremony.
DVD Auditions Choreography
Selected students are invited to audition for Broadway Junior Resident Choreographer Steven G. Kennedy for future Broadway Junior Choreography DVD shoots!
New Works Showcase

Pathways
A one-of-a-kind mainstage event hosted by Junior Theater Festival creator, Tim McDonald, featuring a discussion with interesting folks from across the theatrical industry about their unique journeys and remarkable accomplishments.
Tech Olympics
Four students from each group compete in this fun, high energy tech obstacle course designed to get everyone pumped up about technical theater!
